- HKSSH
Scholarship for Local Doctor
The
scholarship aims at providing an one-off financial support to local
doctors who intend to have overseas visit outside Hong Kong in the interest
of academic activities pertained to Hand surgery or Microsurgery applicable
to orthopaedic practice.
The
scholarship provides a grant of up to a maximum of HK$ 10,000 per year.
If there are more than one applicant being accepted as successful candidates,
the grant will be shared among the successful applicants.
The applicant must be
a Full Member of the Society who has paid the biennial membership fee.
The applicant shall
fill in an application form as available through the Secretary of the
Society and return to the Secretary before the deadline of application
together with the following document :
i. Proposed plan of
overseas visit
ii. Brief curriculum
vitae
iii. One recent photo
The deadline is usually
at the 30th of April immediately preceding the Annual Congress
of the Society. The deadline may change subject to notification through
the Newsletter or other official channels.
- Selection and
Issuing Process
- All applications
will be processed in the Council meeting of the Society and priority
for selection will be given to applicant who has not received any form
of scholarship issued by the HKSSH before.
- Formal notification
letter of acceptance will be sent out to individual successful applicant
before the issue of the Scholarship at the Annual Congress.
- Duty of successful
applicant
- The applicant should
accomplish the proposed trip personally.
- The applicant should
provide certified documentation of the trip together with a written
report to the Secretary within one month upon return from overseas.
The
report will be published in the Newsletter of the Society.
- Under normal circumstances,
the scholarship grant will be reimbursed after the accomplishment of
the overseas visit.
- The applicant must
have accomplished the overseas trip before the time of the next HKSSH
Annual Congress.

The
scholarship aims at providing an one-off financial support to local
Associate Members of the Society who intend to have overseas visit outside
Hong Kong in the interest of academic activities pertained to Hand surgery
or Microsurgery applicable to orthopaedic practice.
The
scholarship provide a grant of up to a maximum of HK$ 10,000 per year.
If there are more than one applicant being accepted as successful candidates,

fee.
The applicant shall

3. HKSSH
Scholarship for Special Conference
- The scholarship aims
at providing an one-off financial support to local doctors and associated
members who intend to participate in selected major overseas conferences
outside Hong Kong pertained to the practice of Hand surgery or Microsurgery
applicable to orthopaedic practice.
- The scholarship is
set up on an ad hoc and non-recurrent basis , depending on the relative
importance and the scientific value of the conferences. The Society
shall announce the opening of such scholarship for application through
the Newsletter . Typical examples include IFSSH Congress, APFSSH Congress
and Triennial Congress of Hand Surgery Society of Chinese Medical Association..
The
scholarship provide a variable amount of grant to each successful applicant
per event. If there are more than one applicant being accepted as successful
candidates, the grant will be shared among the successful applicants.
i. The applicant
must be a Full or Associate Member of the Society who has paid the
biennial membership fee.
ii. The applicant
shall register and participate in the specified conference personally.
The
applicant shall fill in an application form as available through the
Secretary of the Society and return to the Secretary before the deadline
together with a brief curriculum vitae and one recent photo.
The deadline is set
according to the specific condition of the selected conference. The
date shall be announced through the Newsletter or other official channels.
- Selection and

. Priority for selection will be given to applicant who has not received
any form of scholarship issued by the HKSSH before and who has scientific
paper(s) accepted for presentation during the conference.
ii.
Formal notification letter of acceptance will be sent out to individual
successful applicant before the conference date.
- Duty of successful
applicant
- The applicant should
participate in the specified conference personally.
- The applicant should
provide certified documentation of the trip together with a written
report to the Secretary within one month upon return from overseas.
The report will be published in the Newsletter of the Society.
- Under normal circumstances
, the scholarship grant will be reimbursed after the accomplishment
of the overseas visit.

4. HKSSH
Ambassadorship ( Provisional)
This
is a provisional ambassadorship exchange programme between the HKSSH
and the Japanese Society for Surgery of the Hand (JSSH). The first programme
shall be on trial run in the year of 2000. Permanent programme is yet
to be established. The ambassadorship aims at promoting fraternity and
mutual exchange of knowledge, skill and experience between the two sister
Hand Societies.
The
ambassadorship shall provide full sponsor of one return economic class
air-ticket for the ambassador to attend the Annual Meeting of the JSSH,
which is usually held in May. The hosting Society shall waive the registration
fee and hotel accommodation fee of the ambassador during his/her visit
in Japan for the Meeting. In return, the HKKSH shall waive the registration
fee and hotel accommodation fee for the visiting ambassador from Japan.
- The applicant must
be a Full or Associate Member of the Society who has paid the biennial
membership fee.
- The applicant shall
register and participate in the Annual Meeting of the JSSH personally.
The applicant shall
fill in an application form as available through the Secretary of the
Society and return to the Secretary before the deadline together with
a brief curriculum vitae and one recent photo.
The deadline for the
1st trial run programme in year 2000 is on 31st
December, 1999.
All
applications will be processed in the Council meeting of the Society
. Priority for selection will be given to applicant who has been awarded
the “ HKSSH Best Paper Award ” in the HKSSH Annual Congress and
those who have not received any form of scholarship issued by the HKSSH
before.
- Duty of successful
applicant
- The applicant shall
register and participate in the JSSH Annual Meeting
- The applicant should
present an oral scientific paper during the Annual Meeting. The scientific
content of the paper should be relevant to Hand Surgery or Microsurgery
applicable to orthopaedic practice.
- The applicant shall
participate in all social functions provided by the JSSH during the
Congress as far as possible to promote fraternity
- The applicant should
provide certified documentation of the trip together with a written
report to the Secretary within one month upon return from overseas .
The report will be published in the Newsletter of the Society. The applicant
may be requested to present his/her experience in the following Annual
Congress of the HKSSH.
- Under normal circumstances
, the ambassadorship grant will be reimbursed after the accomplishment
of the visit.

5. HKSSH
Chinese Scholarship
The
scholarship aims at providing an one-off financial support to young
hand surgeon from Mainland, China who intend to participate in the Annual
Congress of the Society and the HKSSH Week Programme.
- The scholarship provide
a grant of HK$ 3,000 per applicant. Normally 5 scholarships are available
for application each year.
- All successful applicants
will enjoy waiving of the registration fee for the Annual Congress and
Week programme of the Society. They will also be invited to participate
in all social functions during the event including the welcoming dinner
and annual banquet.
- Nomination of candidates
should go through the Hand Surgery Society of Chinese Medical Association.
- Formal notification
letter of acceptance will be sent to individual successful applicant
by the HKSSH. Successful applicant should then submit to the Secretary
of the HKSSH a brief curriculum vitae, two recent photos and an abstract
of paper intended to be presented during the Annual Congress.
- Duty of successful
applicant
- The applicant should
participate in the Annual Congress and the Week Programme of the HKSSH
personally.
- The applicant should
present a scientific paper during the Annual Congress. The content of
the paper should be relevant to Hand Surgery and /or Microsurgery applicable
to orthopaedic practice.
- Under normal circumstances
, the scholarship will be granted to individual during the Annual Congress,
provided that the applicant has undertaken the duty to present a paper
during the Congress.
- The applicant is
encouraged to participate in all social functions during the Annual
Congress and the Week Programme.
- The applicant should
be responsible for paying his/her own accommodation and transport fee
during his/her visit in Hong Kong.

6. HKSSH
Asian-Pacific Scholarship
The scholarship aims
at providing an one-off financial support to young hand surgeons from
Asian-Pacific region who intend to participate in the Annual Congress
of the Society and the HKSSH Week Programme.
- The scholarship provide
a grant of HK$ 6,000 per applicant. Normally two scholarships are available
for application each year.
- All successful applicants
will enjoy waiving of the registration fee for the Annual Congress and
Week programme of the Society. They will also be invited to participate
in all social functions during the event including the welcoming dinner
and annual banquet.
The applicant should
preferably be a young surgeon in active practice of Hand surgery and/or
microsurgery as applicable to orthopaedic practice.
The applicant shall
fill in an application form as available through the Secretary of the
Society and return to the Secretary before the deadline together with
a brief curriculum vitae and two recent photos.
The deadline is usually
on the 31st of January immediately preceding the Annual Congress
of the Society. The deadline may change subject to individual notification
- Duty of successful
applicant
- The applicant should
participate in the Annual Congress and the Week Programme of the HKSSH
personally.
- The applicant should
present a scientific paper during the Annual Congress.
